Airport Breaks All-time Passenger Record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jan. 29, 2007 – The Eastern Iowa Airport broke it's all-time passenger record in 2006 with 1,023,768 passengers flying in and out of Cedar Rapids in 2006.

The total number of passengers for 2006 marks a 2 percent increase over last year's previous record at 1,004,034.

Dan Mann, Airport Director, more and more Eastern Iowans are seeing the benefits of using their home airport. "We've actively been asking customers for their feedback on how they would like to see the Airport change or improve," Mann said. "We've been listening, and customers can see that."

Mann pointed to the improvements in air service over the last year, including the addition of non-stop flights to Atlanta and Orlando, and the aircraft upgrade of regional jets on all St. Louis flights.

There are also many other things that have been implemented, he said. "We created a cell phone lot - the first in the state - to provide people picking up travelers a free and convenient place to wait, we have free Wi-Fi service throughout the terminal and we are looking at many additional customer service enhancements in 2007and beyond."

Among the planned improvements include a covered walkway in the long-term and short-term parking lots, concourse expansion and terminal renovations.
