New Director Named for Eastern Iowa Airport FOR IMMMEDIATE RELEASE May 25 , 2010 – Tim Bradshaw, 51, A.A.E. has been named as the new Airport Director for The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID). Bradshaw will leave his current post as Deputy Executive Director - Chief Operating Officer for the Louisville Regional Airport Authority in Louisville, KY and take over at CID June 28. Cedar Rapids Airport Commission Chairman Dan Thies said Bradshaw brings experience from airports of various sizes and he also understands the importance of working with the community. “We were very impressed with Tim’s background and his more than 20 years of experience at airports,” Thies said. “He really embraces the role the airport director must play in engaging the community, whether that’s talking about recruiting airlines for more flights or determining customer service improvements.” “We are proud of the improvements we’ve made over the years,” Thies said. “And, we know Tim is the right person to continue positioning The Eastern Iowa Airport for future growth of the facility and air service.” Bradshaw was chosen from 25 applicants who were part of a nationwide search that began in February, shortly after Dan Mann, A.A.E. left CID to become the Executive Director of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Authority in Columbia, SC. “I’m certainly looking forward to joining the team at The Eastern Iowa Airport,” Bradshaw said. “With the plans and improvements that the Commission and staff already have in place, I am confident that together we will be able to position the airport for growth that will serve the region well into the future.” He has been with the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, a two-airport system, since 2008. Previously, Bradshaw was Airport Manager for Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport, Owensboro, KY; Airport Manager for Bowling Green Warren County Airport, Bowling Green, KY; Operations Supervisor for Johnson Controls World Services, Teterboro, NJ; Airport/FBO Manager for New Garden Aviation, Toughkenamon, PA; and Helicopter Rescue Crewman for the United States Coast Guard. Bradshaw has a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Public Administration from Western Kentucky University. He was an Adjunct Faculty member at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University; is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) and was previously President of the Kentucky Aviation Association. Thies credited the Commission’s Labor & Personnel Committee, Chairperson Dr. Dee Baird and Carroll Reasoner, for their work on the search process. The Committee worked with ADK Executive Search of Atlantic Beach, FL, a firm hired by the Commission earlier this year. ADK specializes in airport executive employment searches. “The committee members put in countless volunteer hours in meetings and reviewing various materials for more than three months,” Thies said. “I am very grateful they were willing and able to devote such time in finding the airport’s new leader.” The five-member Commission, Thies, Baird, Reasoner, Tom Hobson and Joshua Schamberger met in two closed sessions in May to discuss candidates. Thies said the Commission also wants to extend thanks to the airport’s three directors: Don Swanson, the airport’s director of finance and administration, who is serving as the interim director since Mann’s departure; Sara Mau, A.A.E., director of operations and Pam Hinman, director of marketing and communications, who were each given additional responsibilities during the interim period.
